Preservative-Treated Rough Wood Exports

Exports in Eastern Europe

After two years of growth, shipments abroad of preservative-treated rough wood decreased by X% to X cubic meters in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X cubic meters. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, preservative-treated rough wood exports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In 2022, Lithuania (X cubic meters), Poland (X cubic meters), Latvia (X cubic meters) and the Czech Republic (X cubic meters) represented the major exporter of preservative-treated rough wood in Eastern Europe, making up X% of total export. It was distantly followed by Estonia (X cubic meters), achieving a X% share of total exports. Russia (X cubic meters), Slovakia (X cubic meters) and Romania (X cubic meters) took a minor share of total exports.

In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per cubic meter, reducing by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per cubic meter in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per cubic meter), while Lithuania ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Eastern Europe

In 2022, supplies from abroad of preservative-treated rough wood decreased by X% to X cubic meters for the first time since 2013, thus ending a eight-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by X%. The volume of import peaked at X cubic meters in 2021, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

In value terms, preservative-treated rough wood imports fell sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then declined markedly in the following year.

Imports by Country

Slovakia was the major importing country with an import of about X cubic meters, which amounted to X% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Latvia (X cubic meters), the Czech Republic (X cubic meters) and Poland (X cubic meters), together comprising a X% share of total imports. Estonia (X cubic meters), Lithuania (X cubic meters) and Hungary (X cubic meters) held a relatively small share of total imports.

Slovakia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the preservative-treated rough wood imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Latvia (X%), Poland (X%), Lithuania (X%), Estonia (X%), the Czech Republic (X%) and Hungary (X%) displayed positive paces of growth.
