Toluene Exports

Exports in Eastern Europe

Toluene exports dropped remarkably to X tons in 2022, which is down by X% compared with 2021 figures. In general, exports recorded a perceptible contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, toluene exports stood at $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Slovakia was the major exporter of toluene in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons) and Romania (X tons), together constituting a X% share of total exports. Hungary (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.

Slovakia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the toluene exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. Hungary (X%), Poland (X%) and Romania (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In 2022, overseas purchases of toluene increased by X% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
