Exports in Eastern Europe
After four years of growth, shipments abroad of sugars, sugar ethers and salts decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, sugars exports contracted rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a measured increase. Exports by Country
In 2022, the Czech Republic (X tons) and Poland (X tons) represented the major exporters of sugars, sugar ethers and salts in Eastern Europe, together recording near X% of total exports. Bulgaria (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, distantly followed by Slovakia (X tons), Lithuania (X tons) and Hungary (X tons). All these countries together held near X% share of total exports. Russia (X tons) took a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Bulgaria (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Hungary ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Poland ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined X% share of total exports. Bulgaria, Slovakia, Lithuania and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, increasing by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, after five years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of sugars, sugar ethers and salts, when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, sugars imports fell modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then declined slightly in the following year.
Imports by Country
Poland (X tons) and Russia (X tons) represented roughly X% of total imports in 2022. Bulgaria (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with an X% share, followed by the Czech Republic (X%). Hungary (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
