Exports in Eastern Europe

In 2023, shipments abroad of stamping foils decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after three years of growth. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, stamping foil exports contracted to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Poland was the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which amounted to X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Hungary (X tons), mixing up a X% share of total exports. The following exporters - the Czech Republic (X tons), Lithuania (X tons) and Russia (X tons) - together made up X% of total exports.

Poland was also the fastest-growing in terms of the stamping foils exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Hungary (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, the Czech Republic (X%), Russia (X%) and Lithuania (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Poland (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2023, the share of Russia (X p.p.), the Czech Republic (X p.p.) and Lithuania (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest stamping foil supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Hungary ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2023, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Poland totaled X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Hungary (X% per year) and the Czech Republic (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2023, with an increase of X% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum in 2023 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2023, purchases abroad of stamping foils decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after five years of growth. Total imports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, imports decreased by X% against 2021 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, stamping foil imports dropped modestly to $X in 2023. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2023; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2023, Poland (X tons) was the largest importer of stamping foils, constituting X% of total imports. Russia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Hungary (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Romania (X tons). All these countries together took near X% share of total imports. The following importers - Ukraine (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) - each accounted for an X% share of total imports.

Imports into Poland increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Hungary (X%), Romania (X%), the Czech Republic (X%) and Belarus (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Russia (X%) and Ukraine (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2023, the share of Poland and Hungary increased by X and X percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Among the main importing countries, Romania, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2023, picking up by X% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2023, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
