Solid Biofuel Exports
Exports in Eastern Europe
After ten years of growth, overseas shipments of solid biofuels decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by X%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
In value terms, solid biofuel exports reached $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
The shipments of the three major exporters of solid biofuels, namely Latvia, Russia and Estonia, represented more than half of total export. It was distantly followed by Ukraine (X tons), Belarus (X tons), Lithuania (X tons), Poland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Romania (X tons), together comprising a X% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Ukraine (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Latvia ($X), Russia ($X) and Estonia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for X% of total exports. Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Romania and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.
Belarus, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, growing by X% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, overseas purchases of solid biofuels decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2013, thus ending a eight-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, solid biofuel imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Poland (X tons) and Latvia (X tons) represented roughly X% of total imports in 2022. Bulgaria (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Lithuania (X tons) and Romania (X tons). All these countries together took near X% share of total imports. The Czech Republic (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
