In 2018, approx. X tons of semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice were exported in Eastern Europe; going down by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, milled rice exports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, milled rice exports attained their peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2018, exports failed to regain their momentum.

In value terms, milled rice exports amounted to $X in 2018. Overall, milled rice exports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. The level of exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2018, exports failed to regain their momentum.

Exports by Country

Russia represented the key exporter of semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice exported in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2018. Poland (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by the Czech Republic (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons). All these countries together occupied near X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Romania (X tons), Lithuania (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) - together made up X% of total exports.

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice exports, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007 to 2018. At the same time, Bulgaria (+X%), Poland (+X%), Romania (+X%), Lithuania (+X%) and the Czech Republic (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Hungary experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2007 to 2018, the share of Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Romania and Lithuania increased by +X%, +X%, +X%, +X%, +X% and +X% percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The volume of imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, milled rice imports amounted to $X in 2018. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2018; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. In that year, milled rice imports reached their peak of $X. From 2009 to 2018, the growth of milled rice imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2018, Russia (X tons), distantly followed by Poland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), Romania (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the largest importers of semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice, together making up X% of total imports.
