Exports in Eastern Europe

In 2022, overseas shipments of sanitary ware and parts of iron or steel decreased by X% to X units for the first time since 2016, thus ending a five-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, posted a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, iron or steel sanitary ware exports fell sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted notable growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Poland was the key exporting country with an export of around X units, which resulted at X% of total exports. Bulgaria (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Lithuania (X units), the Czech Republic (X units) and Belarus (X units). All these countries together held near X% share of total exports. Romania (X units) and Latvia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Poland increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Lithuania (X%), Romania (X%), Latvia (X%), Bulgaria (X%) and the Czech Republic (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lithuania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Lithuania (X p.p.), Bulgaria (X p.p.), Romania (X p.p.) and Latvia (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Poland (X p.p.) and Belarus (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Poland ($X) emerged as the largest iron or steel sanitary ware supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Lithuania, with a X% share.

In Poland, iron or steel sanitary ware exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Czech Republic (X% per year) and Lithuania (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, declining by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a noticeable setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

The volume of import peaked at X units in 2021, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

In value terms, iron or steel sanitary ware imports declined sharply to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by X%. The purchases of the three major importers of sanitary ware and parts of iron or steel, namely Poland, Russia and Bulgaria, represented more than half of total import.
