Bus Market Size in Eastern Europe

In 2023, the East European bus market decreased by X% to $X, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, consumption, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in Eastern Europe

In 2023, overseas shipments of public-transport passenger motor vehicles increased by X% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, bus exports skyrocketed to $X in 2023. Total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Poland (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) were the largest exporters of public-transport passenger motor vehicles in 2023, finishing at approx. X% and X% of total exports, respectively. Slovakia (X units) ranks next in terms of the total exports with an X% share, followed by Belarus (X%) and Romania (X%). The following exporters - Bulgaria (X units) and Russia (X units) - each recorded a X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Poland ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Romania ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2023, with a combined X% share of total exports. Belarus, Russia, Slovakia and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

Bulgaria, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2023, picking up by X% against the previous year. Export price indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2023: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, bus export price decreased by X% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2021 to 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while Slovakia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2023, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Ukraine ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
