Exports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, paper and paperboard exports in Eastern Europe shrank modestly to X tons, declining by X% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, exports showed a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by X%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, paper and paperboard exports rose notably to $X in 2022. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The shipments of the four major exporters of paper and paperboard (creped, crinkled, embossed or perforated), namely Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic and Russia, represented more than two-thirds of total export.
