Papaya Exports

Exports in Eastern Europe

In 2022, shipments abroad of papayas decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then declined significantly in the following year.

In value terms, papaya exports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Bulgaria prevails in exports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. Hungary (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by the Czech Republic (X tons). All these countries together took near X% share of total exports. Poland (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to papaya exports from Bulgaria stood at X%. At the same time, Hungary (X%), Poland (X%) and the Czech Republic (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, the amount of papayas imported in Eastern Europe dropped markedly to X tons, falling by X% compared with the year before.
