Exports in Eastern Europe
After four years of growth, overseas shipments of nutmeg, mace and cardamoms decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, nutmeg, mace and cardamom exports contracted remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a measured expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell significantly in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Latvia (X tons) and Poland (X tons) represented the major exporters of nutmeg, mace and cardamoms in Eastern Europe, together making up X% of total exports. Estonia (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by the Czech Republic (X%) and Romania (X%). The following exporters - Hungary (X tons) and Russia (X tons) - together made up X% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (X%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
