Exports in Eastern Europe

Motorcycle, scooter and side-car exports reached X units in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X%. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, motorcycle, scooter and side-car exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the five major exporters of motorcycles, scooters and side-cars, namely Bulgaria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland and Romania, represented more than two-thirds of total export. It was distantly followed by Lithuania (X units), constituting a X% share of total exports. Slovakia (X units) held a minor share of total exports.

Imports in Eastern Europe

In 2022, overseas purchases of motorcycles, scooters and side-cars decreased by X% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by X%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2021, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

In value terms, motorcycle, scooter and side-car imports declined to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.

Poland (X units) and Russia (X units) represented roughly X% of total imports in 2022. The Czech Republic (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Hungary (X units), Romania (X units) and Slovakia (X units). All these countries together held approx. In 2022, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, increasing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a abrupt decline. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Ukraine ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
