Exports in Eastern Europe

In 2022, overseas shipments of ethyl alcohol decreased by X% to X litres, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X litres in 2020; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

In value terms, ethanol exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Hungary was the key exporter of ethyl alcohol in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports amounting to X litres, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. Poland (X litres) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Slovakia (X litres), Russia (X litres) and Bulgaria (X litres). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total exports. Ukraine (X litres) and Moldova (X litres) took a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to ethanol exports from Hungary stood at X%. At the same time, Moldova (X%), Ukraine (X%), Poland (X%), Bulgaria (X%), Russia (X%) and Slovakia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Moldova emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022.
