Exports in Eastern Europe

In 2022, overseas shipments of calcium carbonate decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after four years of growth. In general, exports, however, posted a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, calcium carbonate exports totaled $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Latvia was the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which finished at X% of total exports. Poland (X tons) took a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Romania (X%), Russia (X%) and the Czech Republic (X%). The following exporters - Lithuania (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons) - each reached a X% share of total exports.

Exports from Latvia increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Bulgaria (X%), Lithuania (X%), Poland (X%), Romania (X%) and Russia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bulgaria emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the Czech Republic (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Latvia, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and Lithuania increased by X, X, X, X and X percentage points, respectively.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Latvia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of calcium carbonate decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after four years of growth. Total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by X% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
