In 2022, the average yield of cabbage and other brassicas in Eastern Europe contracted slightly to X tons per ha, remaining constant against the year before. The yield figure increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the yield increased by X%. The level of yield peaked at X tons per ha in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the yield remained at a lower figure. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.

Cabbage Exports
Exports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, overseas shipments of cabbage and other brassicas increased by X% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. Overall, exports, however, saw a mild decline. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cabbage exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports saw a slight expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Poland (X tons) was the largest exporter of cabbage and other brassicas, constituting X% of total exports. Belarus (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by the Czech Republic (X%). Hungary (X tons), Latvia (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Russia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Poland decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Russia (X%), Romania (X%), Latvia (X%) and Belarus (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the Czech Republic (X%) and Hungary (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Belarus, Romania, Latvia and Russia increased by X, X, X and X percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest cabbage supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Poland was relatively modest. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (X% per year) and Hungary (X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, falling by X% against the previous year. Export price indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, cabbage export price increased by X% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell slightly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Cabbage imports rose notably to X tons in 2022, picking up by X% on the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, cabbage imports soared to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Russia (X tons) was the major importer of cabbage and other brassicas, constituting X% of total imports. Ukraine (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by the Czech Republic (X tons), Slovakia (X tons), Poland (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Belarus (X tons). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total imports.
Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of cabbage and other brassicas. At the same time, Ukraine (X%), Poland (X%), Romania (X%) and Belarus (X%) displayed positive paces of growth.
