The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

While the share of Poland (+4.7 p.p.) and Russia (+3.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Hungary (-1.7 p.p.) and Slovakia (-3.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Poland ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported bleached sulphate pulp in Eastern Europe, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Russia ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 12% share.

In Poland, bleached sulphate pulp imports increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Russia (+8.7% per year) and the Czech Republic (+6.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 29% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
