Exports in Eastern Europe
Apricot exports soared to X tons in 2022, rising by X% compared with 2021 figures. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, apricot exports expanded sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Moldova was the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which resulted at X% of total exports. Hungary (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Bulgaria (X tons) and Poland (X tons). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total exports. Latvia (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Moldova was also the fastest-growing in terms of the apricots exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Bulgaria (X%) and Latvia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. The Czech Republic experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Hungary (X%), Poland (X%) and Lithuania (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Moldova (X p.p.), Bulgaria (X p.p.) and Latvia (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Hungary (X p.p.), Poland (X p.p.) and Lithuania (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Moldova ($X), Hungary ($X) and Bulgaria ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for X% of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Bulgaria, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Moldova ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, purchases abroad of apricots increased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
