Exports in Eastern Europe

For the third year in a row, Eastern Europe recorded growth in shipments abroad of animal or vegetable fertilisers, which increased by X% to X tons in 2023. Total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, exports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2023 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, animal or vegetable fertilisers exports rose rapidly to $X in 2023. Overall, exports enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2023 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

The biggest shipments were from Hungary (X tons), Lithuania (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons), together recording X% of total export. In 2023, supplies from abroad of animal or vegetable fertilisers increased by X% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after three years of decline. Over the period under review, imports showed a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2023 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by X%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2023, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while Estonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
