Exports in Eastern Europe

In 2020, shipments abroad of alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2015, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, alcohols exports declined notably to $X in 2020. In general, exports recorded a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2020, Russia (X tons) was the largest exporter of alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives, committing X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), comprising a X% share of total exports. Slovakia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2020; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons; afterwards, it flattened through to 2020.

In value terms, alcohols imports reduced to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable descent.
