Exports in Eastern Europe

In 2023, overseas shipments of accordions and mouth organs decreased by X% to X units, falling for the third year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports showed a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, accordion exports expanded sharply to $X in 2023. Total exports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, exports decreased by X% against 2021 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Poland (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) represented the key exporters of accordions and mouth organs in 2023, reaching approx. X% and X% of total exports, respectively. Slovakia (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Russia (X units), Lithuania (X units) and Hungary (X units). All these countries together held approx. X% share of total exports. Romania (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2023, growing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Slovakia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2023, imports of accordions and mouth organs in Eastern Europe soared to X units, increasing by X% compared with 2022 figures. In general, imports posted a modest increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, accordion imports surged to $X in 2023. Total imports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, imports decreased by X% against 2019 indices. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2023, Russia (X units) represented the major importer of accordions and mouth organs, generating X% of total imports. Poland (X units) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Czech Republic (X%) and Romania (X%). Hungary (X units), Slovakia (X units) and Ukraine (X units) took a minor share of total imports.

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the accordions and mouth organs imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Slovakia (X%) and the Czech Republic (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Romania (X%), Poland (X%), Ukraine (X%) and Hungary (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Russia (X p.p.) and Slovakia (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Ukraine, Romania, Poland and Hungary saw its share reduced by X%, X%, X% and X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively. In value terms, the largest accordion importing markets in Eastern Europe were Russia ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports. Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

Slovakia, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2023, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, reducing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the import price increased by X%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2023, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Ukraine ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
