Wood Fuel Exports

Exports in Eastern Asia

In 2022, the amount of wood fuel exported in Eastern Asia expanded significantly to X cubic meters, increasing by X% on the previous year. In general, exports, however, saw a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by X%. The volume of export peaked at X cubic meters in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wood fuel exports shrank slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a slight slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, China (X cubic meters) represented the major exporter of wood fuel, generating X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Japan (X cubic meters), committing a X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Taiwan (Chinese) (X cubic meters) and Hong Kong SAR (X cubic meters) - each reached a X% share of total exports.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the wood fuel exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Hong Kong SAR (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X cubic meters in 2021, and then fell sharply in the following year.

In value terms, wood fuel imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

China represented the main importer of wood fuel in Eastern Asia, with the volume of imports finishing at X cubic meters, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Japan (X cubic meters), constituting a X% share of total imports.

Imports into China increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Japan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth.
