Dried Prune Exports

Exports in Eastern Asia

For the third year in a row, Eastern Asia recorded growth in overseas shipments of dried prunes, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, dried prune exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a noticeable contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

China (X tons) and Hong Kong SAR (X tons) dominates exports structure, together mixing up X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), generating a X% share of total exports. South Korea (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, dried prune imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2017 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons) was the major importer of dried prunes, committing X% of total imports. Japan (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by South Korea (X tons). All these countries together held approx. X% share of total imports. The following importers - Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and Hong Kong SAR (X tons) - together made up X% of total imports.
