Exports in Eastern Asia

In 2022, overseas shipments of chromates, dichromates and peroxochromates were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Overall, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, chromates exports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

China represented the largest exporter of chromates, dichromates and peroxochromates in Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by South Korea (X tons) and Japan (X tons), together constituting an X% share of total exports. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the chromates, dichromates and peroxochromates exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. Japan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. South Korea (X%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Taiwan (Chinese) and South Korea saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In 2022, chromates imports in Eastern Asia skyrocketed to X tons, growing by X% on 2021 figures. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, chromates imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a noticeable shrinkage. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Japan (X tons) represented the key importer of chromates, dichromates and peroxochromates, committing X% of total imports. It was distantly followed by China (X tons), generating a X% share of total imports. South Korea (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
