Polycarbonate Market Size in Denmark

The Danish polycarbonate market totaled $X in 2020, rising by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Polycarbonate consumption peaked at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, consumption failed to regain the momentum.

Exports from Denmark

In 2020, after four years of growth, there was decline in overseas shipments of polycarbonates (in primary forms), when their volume decreased by -X% to X tonnes. Overall, exports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at X tonnes in 2019, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, polycarbonate exports rose markedly to $X in 2020. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs in 2020 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

Mexico (X tonnes) was the main destination for polycarbonate exports from Denmark, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, polycarbonate exports to Mexico exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Hungary (X tonnes), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Bulgaria (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Mexico stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Hungary (+X% per year) and Bulgaria (+X% per year).

In value terms, Mexico ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for polycarbonate exports from Denmark, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Hungary ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Bulgaria, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value to Mexico amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Hungary (+X% per year) and Bulgaria (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2020, the average polycarbonate export price amounted to $X per tonne, growing by X% against the previous year. Over the last thirteen years, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. As a result, export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Polycarbonate Imports

Imports into Denmark

In 2020, supplies from abroad of polycarbonates (in primary forms) was finally on the rise to reach X tonnes for the first time since 2015, thus ending a four-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tonnes. From 2011 to 2020, the growth imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, polycarbonate imports rose slightly to $X in 2020. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

Imports by Country

The Netherlands (X tonnes), Germany (X tonnes) and Sweden (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of polycarbonate imports to Denmark, together accounting for X% of total imports. Poland and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in France, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, the largest polycarbonate suppliers to Denmark were the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and Sweden ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports. France and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.

Import Prices by Country

The average polycarbonate import price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, remaining constant against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 an increase of X% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the highest prices were recorded for prices from the Netherlands ($X per tonne) and France ($X per tonne), while the price for Germany ($X per tonne) and Poland ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.
