In 2021, overseas purchases of mercuries decreased by -X% to X kg for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X kg in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, mercury imports reduced to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.
