In value terms, leather apparel exports reduced to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Germany (X units), Sweden (X units) and Poland (X units) were the main destinations of leather apparel exports from Denmark, together comprising 49% of total exports. These countries were followed by France, Norway, the Netherlands, Italy, the UK, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Finland and Switzerland, which together accounted for a further 42%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Austria (with a CAGR of +21.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for leather apparel exported from Denmark were Germany ($X), Sweden ($X) and Poland ($X), together accounting for 52% of total exports. These countries were followed by Norway, the Netherlands, France, the UK, Italy, Belgium, Finland, Austria, Spain and Switzerland, which together accounted for a further 38%.
Italy, with a CAGR of +10.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average leather apparel export price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -37.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (-4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Denmark
For the fifth consecutive year, Denmark recorded decline in supplies from abroad of apparel of leather or of composition leather, which decreased by -19.7% to X units in 2021. In general, imports saw a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 43%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, leather apparel imports reduced to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a slight descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, India (X units) constituted the largest leather apparel supplier to Denmark, accounting for a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, leather apparel imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Pakistan (X units), fourfold. China (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from India was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Pakistan (-1.6% per year) and China (-11.9% per year).
In value terms, India ($X) constituted the largest supplier of leather apparel to Denmark, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Pakistan ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 6.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from India was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Pakistan (-2.6% per year) and Germany (+3.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average leather apparel import price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 9% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 17%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
