Wine Market Size in the Czech Republic

The revenue of the wine market in the Czech Republic amounted to $X in 2018, declining by -X% against the previous year. In general, wine consumption, however, continues to indicate notable growth. In value terms, wine exports stood at $X in 2018. Over the period under review, wine exports continue to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, wine exports attained their peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2018, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Slovakia (X tonnes), Poland (X tonnes) and Romania (X tonnes) were the main destinations of wine exports from the Czech Republic, together comprising X% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Poland, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Slovakia ($X), Poland ($X) and Romania ($X) constituted the largest markets for wine exported from the Czech Republic worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. In 2018, the average wine export price amounted to $X per tonne, lowering by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the wine export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. In that year, the average export prices for wine attained their peak level of $X per tonne. From 2017 to 2018, the growth in terms of the average export prices for wine remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Wine Imports

Imports into the Czech Republic

In 2018, approx. X tonnes of wine were imported into the Czech Republic; lowering by -X% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2018; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed over the period under review. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 with an increase of X% against the previous year. In that year, wine imports attained their peak of X tonnes. From 2012 to 2018, the growth of wine imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, wine imports amounted to $X in 2018. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007 to 2018; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded over the period under review. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, wine imports attained their peak figure in 2018 and are likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Italy (X tonnes), Hungary (X tonnes) and Spain (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of wine imports to the Czech Republic, together accounting for X% of total imports. Slovakia, Germany, France and Moldova lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of imports, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Moldova, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest wine suppliers to the Czech Republic were Italy ($X), France ($X) and Hungary ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports.
