Sugar Cane Market Size in the Czech Republic

After four years of growth, the Czech sugar cane market decreased by -X% to $X in 2020. Overall, consumption, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. As a result, exports attained the peak of $X. from 2019 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The UK (X kg) was the main destination for sugar cane exports from the Czech Republic, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, sugar cane exports to the UK exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X kg), ninefold.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the UK was relatively modest.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to the UK amounted to $X per tonne.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK.

Imports into the Czech Republic

In 2020, supplies from abroad of sugar cane decreased by -X% to X tonnes for the first time since 2017, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2019, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

In value terms, sugar cane imports fell notably to $X in 2020. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2020, Uganda (X tonnes) constituted the largest sugar cane supplier to the Czech Republic, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, sugar cane imports from Uganda exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Cambodia (X tonnes), sixfold. Viet Nam (X kg) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Uganda amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Cambodia (-X% per year) and Viet Nam (-X% per year).

In value terms, Uganda ($X) constituted the largest supplier of sugar cane to the Czech Republic, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Cambodia ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by Viet Nam, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Uganda totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Cambodia (-X% per year) and Viet Nam (-X% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average sugar cane import price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, falling by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a mild increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2019, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the highest prices were recorded for prices from Cambodia ($X per tonne) and Viet Nam ($X per tonne), while the price for Kenya ($X per tonne) and Costa Rica ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uganda, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
