Exports from the Czech Republic
Dried mushroom exports from the Czech Republic soared to X tons in 2022, jumping by 35% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, exports posted strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 123% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, dried mushroom exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 84%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Slovakia (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main destinations of dried mushroom exports from the Czech Republic, with a combined 88% share of total exports. Germany, the UK and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 10%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the UK (with a CAGR of +160.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Slovakia ($X), Poland ($X) and Austria ($X) were the largest markets for dried mushroom exported from the Czech Republic worldwide, together comprising 85% of total exports. The UK, Germany and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 14%.
The UK, with a CAGR of +199.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average dried mushroom export price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -14% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 45% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+19.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Dried Mushroom Imports
Imports into the Czech Republic
For the fourth consecutive year, the Czech Republic recorded growth in supplies from abroad of dried mushrooms and truffles, which increased by 33% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 69% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, dried mushroom imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Vietnam (X tons), China (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of dried mushroom imports to the Czech Republic, with a combined 79% share of total imports. The Netherlands, Poland, Italy and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +22.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of dried mushrooms and truffles to the Czech Republic, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to +2.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+22.6% per year) and Germany (+15.6% per year).

In 2022, the average dried mushroom import price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -9.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 126%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+16.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
