The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, production decreased by -X% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the production volume increased by X% against the previous year. Hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes production peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, production failed to regain the momentum.

For the third consecutive year, the Czech Republic recorded growth in overseas shipments of hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes, which increased by X% to X tonnes in 2020. Over the period under review, exports saw a strong increase. As a result, exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes exports soared to $X in 2020. In general, exports posted significant growth. As a result, exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Germany (X tonnes) was the main destination for hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes exports from the Czech Republic, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X tonnes), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Spain (X kg), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+X% per year) and Spain (+X% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes exported from the Czech Republic were Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Spain ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. The Netherlands, Russia, France and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X (+X% per year) saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, the average export price for hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes amounted to $X per kg, rising by X% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated measured growth from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Imports into the Czech Republic

In 2020, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes, when their volume decreased by -X% to X tonnes. Overall, imports, however, saw resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2019, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes imports shrank to $X in 2020. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019, and then contracted in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2020, Ireland (X tonnes) constituted the largest hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes supplier to the Czech Republic, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes imports from Ireland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tonnes), fourfold. France (X kg) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Ireland stood at +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+X% per year) and France (+X% per year).

In 2020, the average import price for hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes amounted to $X per kg, shrinking by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012 when the average import price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per kg in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per kg), while the price for Slovakia ($X per kg) was amongst the lowest.
