Chestnut Market Size in the Czech Republic

In 2019, after two years of growth, there was decline in the Czech chestnut market, when its value decreased by -X% to $X. In general, consumption, however, posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the market value increased by X% y-o-y. Chestnut consumption peaked at $X in 2018, and then fell in the following year.

Over the period under review, average export prices attained the peak figure in 2019 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Romania ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic

Chestnut imports into the Czech Republic dropped remarkably to X tonnes in 2019, declining by -X% against 2018 figures. Overall, imports, however, showed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tonnes, and then shrank notably in the following year.

In value terms, chestnut imports reduced to $X in 2019. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a resilient expansion.
