Avocado Exports
Exports from the Czech Republic
Avocado exports from the Czech Republic shrank modestly to X tonnes in 2020, remaining relatively unchanged against 2019 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X% year-to-year. The exports peaked at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, avocado exports rose markedly to $X in 2020. In general, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Slovakia (X tonnes) was the main destination for avocado exports from the Czech Republic, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, avocado exports to Slovakia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Hungary (X tonnes), twofold. Bulgaria (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.
From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Slovakia amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Hungary (+X% per year) and Bulgaria (+X% per year).
In value terms, Slovakia ($X) remains the key foreign market for avocado exports from the Czech Republic, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Hungary ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Bulgaria, with a X% share.
From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value to Slovakia stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Hungary (+X% per year) and Bulgaria (+X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2020, the average avocado export price amounted to $X per tonne, with an increase of X% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated prominent growth from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, avocado export price increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when the average export price increased by X% year-to-year. The export price peaked in 2020 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic
In 2020, after eight years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of avocados, when their volume decreased by -X% to X tonnes. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tonnes in 2019, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, avocado imports surged to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked in 2020 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands (X tonnes), Germany (X tonnes) and Spain (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of avocado imports to the Czech Republic, together accounting for X% of total imports. These countries were followed by the UK, Austria and Italy, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the UK (+X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and Spain ($X) constituted the largest avocado suppliers to the Czech Republic, together accounting for X% of total imports. Austria, the UK and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X UK, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2020, the average avocado import price amounted to $X per tonne, with an increase of X% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated buoyant growth from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 when the average import price increased by X% y-o-y. The import price peaked in 2020 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the countries with the highest prices were the Netherlands ($X per tonne) and Germany ($X per tonne), while the price for the UK ($X per tonne) and Spain ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.
