Imports of Glass Fibres And Glass Wool

Imports into Cuba

For the third year in a row, Cuba recorded decline in purchases abroad of glass fibres and glass wool, which decreased by -51.1% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 741%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, glass fibres and wool imports rose to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 624%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Mexico (X tons), Costa Rica (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main suppliers of glass fibres and wool imports to Cuba, together comprising 82% of total imports. These countries were followed by China and Italy, which together accounted for a further 16%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +58.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
