Imports into Cuba

In 2021, overseas purchases of domestic electric coffee or tea makers were finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, domestic coffee machine imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 80%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X units) was the main supplier of domestic coffee machine to Cuba, accounting for a 95% share of total imports. It was followed by Panama (X units), with a 1.9% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Panama (+3.8% per year) and Portugal (-22.0% per year).
