Carpet Market Size in Cuba

The Cuban carpet market dropped rapidly to $X in 2021, shrinking by -21.4% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. In 2021, supplies from abroad of carpets and other textile floor coverings decreased by -27.2% to X square meters for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, showed modest growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 89%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X square meters in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, carpet imports fell notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 53%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Turkey (X square meters), Panama (X square meters) and Spain (X square meters) were the main suppliers of carpet imports to Cuba, together comprising 74% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +17.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Italy ($X), Panama ($X) and Turkey ($X) were the largest carpet suppliers to Cuba, together comprising 70% of total imports.
