Tea Market Size in Croatia

The revenue of the tea market in Croatia amounted to $X in 2018, lowering by -X% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, tea consumption continues to indicate a deep shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X% y-o-y. In that year, the tea market reached its peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2018, the growth of the tea market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from Croatia

In 2018, approx. X tonnes of tea were exported from Croatia; going up by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the total exports indicated a notable increase from 2007 to 2018: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, tea exports increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, tea exports attained their peak figure at X tonnes in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2018, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, tea exports totaled $X in 2018. Overall, the total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2007 to 2018: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, tea exports attained their peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2018, exports failed to regain their momentum.

Exports by Country

Canada (X tonnes) was the main destination for tea exports from Croatia, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, tea exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Albania (X tonnes), fivefold. Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Canada amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Albania (+X% per year) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (+X% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for tea exported from Croatia were Albania ($X), Canada ($X) and Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X), together accounting for X% of total exports. Macedonia, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X the main countries of destination, Slovakia recorded the highest growth rate of exports, over the last eleven-year period, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2018, the average tea export price amounted to $X per tonne, going up by X% against the previous year. Over the last eleven-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 an increase of X% year-to-year. In that year, the average export prices for tea reached their peak level of $X per tonne. From 2012 to 2018, the growth in terms of the average export prices for tea failed to regain its momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Macedonia ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Macedonia, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Tea Imports

Imports into Croatia

In 2018, the amount of tea imported into Croatia amounted to X tonnes, going down by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, tea imports continue to indicate a drastic setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2018, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, tea imports totaled $X in 2018. Overall, tea imports continue to indicate a mild setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X% year-to-year. In that year, tea imports reached their peak of $X. From 2017 to 2018, the growth of tea imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Germany (X tonnes), Georgia (X tonnes) and China (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of tea imports to Croatia, together accounting for X% of total imports. These countries were followed by the UK, Sri Lanka, Poland, Slovenia, India, Austria, the United Arab Emirates, Hungary and Viet Nam, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of imports, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Hungary, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of tea to Croatia, comprising X% of total tea imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Poland ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by Slovenia, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+X% per year) and Slovenia (-X% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2018, the average tea import price amounted to $X per tonne, rising by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price indicated a remarkable increase from 2007 to 2018: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, tea import price increased by +X% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when the average import price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, the average import prices for tea attained their maximum in 2018 and is expected to retain its growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($X per tonne), while the price for Viet Nam ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
