Exports by Country
Germany (X units) was the main destination for t-shirt exports from Croatia, with a 48% share of total exports. Moreover, t-shirt exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovakia (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Italy (X units), with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany amounted to +14.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (+104.7% per year) and Italy (+13.7% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for t-shirt exports from Croatia, comprising 49% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Slovenia, with a 6.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany stood at +3.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+4.7% per year) and Slovenia (+17.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average t-shirt export price amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -38.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 5.4%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 34%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Germany (X units), Hungary (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main suppliers of t-shirt imports to Croatia, together comprising 7.7% of total imports. Slovakia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Austria, Spain, Turkey, Bangladesh, Belgium and China lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 8.5%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Poland (with a CAGR of +67.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest t-shirt suppliers to Croatia were Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Slovenia ($X), with a combined 23% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Austria, Hungary, Spain, Slovakia, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Turkey, Bangladesh and China, which together accounted for a further 18%.
Poland, with a CAGR of +49.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average t-shirt import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -57.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 9% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the price for Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
