Serbia (X tonnes), Slovenia (X tonnes) and Hungary (X tonnes) were the main destinations of paper and paperboard exports from Croatia, with a combined X% share of total exports. Germany, Slovakia, Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Austria, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for paper and paperboard exported from Croatia were Serbia ($X), Slovenia ($X) and Hungary ($X), together accounting for X% of total exports. These countries were followed by Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia and Austria, which together accounted for a further X recorded the highest growth rate of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the last eleven years, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the paper and paperboard export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when the average export price increased by X% year-to-year. In that year, the average export prices for paper and paperboard reached their peak level of $X per tonne. From 2012 to 2018, the growth in terms of the average export prices for paper and paperboard failed to regain its momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Austria ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Croatia

In 2018, the imports of paper and paperboard into Croatia totaled X tonnes, waning by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, paper and paperboard imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2018, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, paper and paperboard imports amounted to $X in 2018. In general, paper and paperboard imports, however, continue to indicate a slight decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, paper and paperboard imports attained their peak figure at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2018, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Austria (X tonnes), Germany (X tonnes) and Hungary (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of paper and paperboard imports to Croatia, with a combined X% share of total imports. Italy, Sweden, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of imports, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, the average import prices for paper and paperboard reached their maximum at $X per tonne in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2018, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($X per tonne), while the price for Sweden ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
