The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 225% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons) was the main destination for optical fiber cables exports from Croatia, with a 63% share of total exports. Moreover, optical fiber cables exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Sweden (X tons), eightfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Montenegro (X tons), with a 6.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Bosnia and Herzegovina stood at +13.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Sweden (+184.3% per year) and Montenegro (+3.5% per year).
In value terms, Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X) remains the key foreign market for optical fiber cables exports from Croatia, comprising 46% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Guinea ($X), with a 9.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Sweden, with an 8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to +9.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Guinea (0.0% per year) and Sweden (+137.8% per year).

The average optical fiber cables export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 86% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Croatia
In 2021, purchases abroad of optical fiber cables increased by 39% to X tons, rising for the fourth year in a row after three years of decline. In general, imports continue to indicate a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 80% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, optical fiber cables imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 55%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Romania (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Slovenia (X tons) were the main suppliers of optical fiber cables imports to Croatia, together comprising 72% of total imports. China, Belgium, Poland, the Netherlands, Turkey, India and North Macedonia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 23%.

In 2021, the average optical fiber cables import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 8.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was North Macedonia ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by North Macedonia (+54.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
