Newsprint Market Size in Croatia

Hungary (X tonnes) was the main destination for newsprint exports from Croatia, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, newsprint exports to Hungary exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Austria (X tonnes), twofold. The Netherlands (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Hungary totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Austria (+X% per year) and the Netherlands (-X% per year).

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2009 an increase of X% y-o-y. In that year, the average export prices for newsprint attained their peak level of $X per tonne. From 2010 to 2018, the growth in terms of the average export prices for newsprint remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Germany ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Croatia

In 2018, the imports of newsprint into Croatia totaled X tonnes, picking up by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, newsprint imports, however, continue to indicate an abrupt reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, newsprint imports attained their peak figure at X tonnes in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2018, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, newsprint imports totaled $X in 2018. Over the period under review, newsprint imports, however, continue to indicate a drastic shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2018, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Sweden (X tonnes), Austria (X tonnes) and Slovenia (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of newsprint imports to Croatia, together comprising X% of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, Finland and Norway, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of imports, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Norway, while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
