Exports from Croatia

Dolomite exports from Croatia soared to X tons in 2021, picking up by 135% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a sharp shrinkage. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, dolomite exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a dramatic decrease. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Slovenia (X tons) was the main destination for dolomite exports from Croatia, with a 96% share of total exports. It was followed by Belgium (X tons), with a 2.1% share of total exports. The third position in this ranking was held by the Netherlands (X tons), with a 1.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Slovenia amounted to -31.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belgium (+2.4% per year) and the Netherlands (+14.0% per year).

The average dolomite export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 12% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 297%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina (+26.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the eighth consecutive year, Croatia recorded growth in overseas purchases of chalk and dolomite, which increased by 25% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports showed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 50%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, dolomite imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a buoyant increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Austria (X tons) was the main supplier of dolomite to Croatia, accounting for a 97% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland (X tons), with a 1.6% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Austria totaled +19.2%.
