Over the period under review, exports, however, posted strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 2,582% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2020, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
In value terms, cash register exports declined sharply to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
Exports by Country
The Netherlands (X units), Slovenia (X units) and Montenegro (X units) were the main destinations of cash register exports from Croatia, with a combined 79% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Romania, which together accounted for a further 20%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Kosovo (with a CAGR of +263.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the key foreign market for cash registers exports from Croatia, comprising 57% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Montenegro ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Slovenia, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the Netherlands amounted to +59.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Montenegro (+68.5% per year) and Slovenia (+28.3% per year).

The average cash register export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by 51% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 73% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Montenegro ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Kosovo ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+30.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Croatia
Cash register imports into Croatia declined to X units in 2021, shrinking by -11% compared with 2020 figures. In general, total imports indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -35.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 35%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Hungary (X units), Ireland (X units) and Slovenia (X units) were the main suppliers of cash register imports to Croatia, with a combined 67% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ireland (with a CAGR of +160.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Slovenia ($X), Hungary ($X) and Ireland ($X) appeared to be the largest cash register suppliers to Croatia, together accounting for 70% of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, Hungary, with a CAGR of +170.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average cash register import price amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -1.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a mild descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average import price increased by 59% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($X per unit), while the price for Ireland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
