Exports from Costa Rica
In 2022, overseas shipments of crude palm oil decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after five years of growth. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, crude palm oil exports dropped to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a mild increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.

The Netherlands (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main destinations of crude palm oil exports from Costa Rica, with a combined X% share of total exports.

Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, crude palm oil imports shrank sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a sharp decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
