The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports reached the peak figure in 2019 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

The U.S. (X tonnes) was the main destination for lemon and lime exports from Colombia, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, lemon and lime exports to the U.S. exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X tonnes), twofold. In general, export price indicated a tangible expansion from 2007 to 2019: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last twelve-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2019 figures, lemon and lime export price decreased by -X% against 2014 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, export price reached the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2015 to 2019, the growth in terms of the average export prices failed to regain the momentum.

For the third consecutive year, Colombia recorded growth in overseas purchases of lemons and limes, which increased by X% to X tonnes in 2019. In general, imports recorded a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2019, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, lemon and lime imports declined dramatically to $X in 2019. Overall, imports posted a moderate expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2019, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In 2019, Ecuador (X tonnes) constituted the largest lemon and lime supplier to Colombia, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, lemon and lime imports from Ecuador exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Chile (X tonnes), eightfold.
