For the third consecutive year, the CIS recorded decline in shipments abroad of wine, which decreased by X% to X litres in 2022. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X litres. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, wine exports contracted slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Moldova prevails in exports structure, accounting for X litres, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Russia (X litres) ranks second in terms of the total exports with an X% share, followed by Armenia (X%). Azerbaijan (X litres) and Uzbekistan (X litres) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to wine exports from Moldova stood at X%. At the same time, Russia (X%) and Armenia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Azerbaijan (X%) and Uzbekistan (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Russia (X p.p.), Armenia (X p.p.) and Uzbekistan (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Moldova (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Moldova ($X) remains the largest wine supplier in the CIS, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Armenia ($X), with an X% share of total exports. It was followed by Russia, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Moldova stood at X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Armenia (X% per year) and Russia (X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per litre in 2022, increasing by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed mild growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by X%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Armenia ($X per litre), while Russia ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, wine imports in the CIS stood at X litres, stabilizing at 2021. Total imports indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by X% against 2019 indices.
