Waterproof Footwear Market Size in CIS

In 2020, the CIS waterproof footwear market decreased by -X% to $X for the first time since 2015, thus ending a four-year rising trend. The total consumption indicated a mild increase from 2007 to 2020: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when the market value increased by X% year-to-year. Moreover, waterproof footwear production in Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Uzbekistan (X tonnes), threefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Belarus (X tonnes), with a X% share.

In Russia, waterproof footwear production remained relatively stable over the period from 2007-2020. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual rates of production growth: Uzbekistan (+X% per year) and Belarus (-X% per year).

Exports in CIS

In 2020, shipments abroad of waterproof footwear was finally on the rise to reach X tonnes after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a slight slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports attained the maximum at X tonnes in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, waterproof footwear exports amounted to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% y-o-y. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Uzbekistan (X tonnes) and Russia (X tonnes) prevails in waterproof footwear exports structure, together committing X% of total exports. Kyrgyzstan (X tonnes) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Uzbekistan, while exports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In 2020, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of waterproof footwear, when their volume decreased by -X% to X tonnes. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. The volume of import peaked at X tonnes in 2019, and then dropped notably in the following year.

In value terms, waterproof footwear imports contracted markedly to $X in 2020. In general, imports, however, posted mild growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the three major importers of waterproof footwear, namely Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Moldova (X tonnes) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Azerbaijan (X tonnes). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total imports. The following importers - Armenia (X tonnes) and Belarus (X tonnes) - together made up X% of total imports.

These countries were followed by Moldova, Azerbaijan, Belarus and Armenia, which together accounted for a further X terms of the main importing countries, Moldova saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
