Total exports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, exports decreased by X% against 2021 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, uncoated kraft liner exports surged to $X in 2023. In general, exports saw a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, uncoated kraft liner imports surged to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2023, Kazakhstan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) were the major importers of uncoated kraft liner in the CIS, together making up X% of total imports. Azerbaijan (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Russia (X tons) and Moldova (X tons). All these countries together held near X% share of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Tajikistan (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, the largest uncoated kraft liner importing markets in the CIS were Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Russia ($X), together accounting for X% of total imports. Azerbaijan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

Among the main importing countries, Moldova, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2022, and then reduced in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2023, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
