The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Tajikistan (with a CAGR of +53.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported silk yarn and yarn spun from silk waste in the CIS, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Tajikistan, with a 1.6% share.

In Russia, silk yarn imports increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+6.3% per year) and Tajikistan (+25.0% per year).
