Exports in CIS

In 2022, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of semiconductor light emitting diodes (LEDs), when their volume decreased by X% to X units. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

In value terms, semiconductor LED exports shrank markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a pronounced decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Belarus prevails in exports structure, amounting to X units, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X units) and Armenia (X units), together achieving a X% share of total exports. Russia (X units) held a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to semiconductor LED exports from Belarus stood at X%. At the same time, Armenia (X%) and Kazakhstan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Armenia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Russia (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Belarus (X p.p.), Kazakhstan (X p.p.) and Armenia (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Russia saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

Export price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Kazakhstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, semiconductor LED imports fell remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Kazakhstan (X units) represented the largest importer of semiconductor light emitting diodes (LEDs), committing X% of total imports. Moldova (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Belarus (X units). All these countries together took near X% share of total imports.

Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the semiconductor light emitting diodes (LEDs) imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Moldova (X%) and Belarus (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Kazakhstan (X p.p.) and Moldova (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Belarus (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
