In 2018, the exports of semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice in CIS stood at X tons, picking up by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, milled rice exports continue to indicate prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, milled rice exports attained their peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2018, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, milled rice exports stood at $X in 2018. In general, milled rice exports continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. The level of exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2018, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Russia was the key exporter of semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice exported in CIS, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2018. Kazakhstan (X tons) occupied a X% share (based on tons) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Tajikistan (X%).

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Russia, while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest milled rice supplier in CIS, comprising X% of total milled rice exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Kazakhstan ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia stood at +X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+X% per year) and Tajikistan (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The milled rice export price in CIS stood at $X per ton in 2018, shrinking by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the milled rice export price continues to indicate a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. In that year, the export prices for semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice attained their peak level of $X per ton. From 2009 to 2018, the growth in terms of the export prices for semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice failed to regain its momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tajikistan, while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

The imports stood at X tons in 2018, surging by X% against the previous year. In general, milled rice imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, milled rice imports attained their peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, milled rice imports stood at $X in 2018. The total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2007 to 2018: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, milled rice imports increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% year-to-year. In that year, milled rice imports attained their peak of $X. From 2009 to 2018, the growth of milled rice imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia represented the largest importer of semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice imported in CIS, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was near X% of total imports in 2018. Azerbaijan (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Belarus (X tons), Tajikistan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons). All these countries together held near X% share of total imports. The following importers - Armenia (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) - each reached a X% share of total imports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern of semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice imports. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+X%), Armenia (+X%), Tajikistan (+X%) and Azerbaijan (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in CIS, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2018. Belarus experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2007 to 2018, the share of Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Armenia increased by +X%, +X%, +X% and +X% percentage points, while Russia (-X p.p.) saw their share reduced. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
